Alice Ott Middle School recently earned the title of "Model School" for increasing their ability to meet and exceed state standards from 50% to 80%.
Members of Feast for Southeast recently met with Principal James Johnston and members of the Husky Pack, a group of 8th graders who serve in leadership roles at the school. The Husky Pack were eager to find a way to partcipate and give back to the local neighborhood.
We are so proud to announce that the entire school including 6th, 7th and 8th graders are all participating in our Warm Clothes Drive (Socks for Southeast) program. They will be collecting new and unused socks, hats, gloves and scarves from October 15 until November 15, 2012. And just to make it fun, each class will compete against one another to see who can collect the most items. To raise the stakes, the Principal has offered to buy the winning class something a middle schooler cannot resist...pizza!
The warm clothes will be distributed to members of our community who want and need them at our Thanksgiving Meal.
We are so grateful for these thoughtful young people for truly caring and making a positive impact on our community!
